july 4th

here's how i spent my 4th of july:

watching the world hot dog eating competition on espn.

one of the news commentaries made was that "everyone in the free world" was watching the american and asian guy duke shove hot dogs in their mouths.

how depressing to think that a group of people celebrate "the nation's birthday" as many call it by watching people stuff themselves sick with hot dogs made from an in determinant origin.

*slump*

in other news, i've lost my cell phone somewhere in my apartment. it strikes me funny how such a small living space can hide a cell phone so well. and since it's on silent, calling it does no good.

my friend got married today. i found out about two hours after it happened. damn, i wanted to go. oh well.

An undetermined origin, indeed...

Maybe the hot dog should be the new food related inconographic sysmbol of the US. No longer a melting pot or ethnic "salad bowl." America The Hot Dog: Land of imperial conquest, and heart disease... Where the meat (???) is a fattened up version of "mixed" ethnicities, and the casing (whatever THAT may be) represents the force of Americanization? That stupid fence on the border? I don't know...

I went to the old (and somewhat sketch) Save Mart on the 4th, and a greasy, fat, and toothless old man, half in his truck, blew the smoke of a cheap cigarette into my car and hollered "SMILE! Yer a goddam Amer-i-can. It's the fourth of July! Be PROUD of yer kuntry" Yeah, because it's done so much for him.
